Dimitri's Story
SMI graduate Dimitri Constant kindly wrote to us about his awesome achievements:
Dear Greg,
When I came to see you in mid 2006, I was quite lost and facing real challenges. At the time I did not know where I was going and frankly my confidence level was poor.
You saw an opportunity and proceeded to plunge me into further debt by inciting me to purchase one of your programmes, subsequently you asked me to list 10 reasons I should be grateful for being in my situation! At that point I thought you had me and I had just spent money I did not have for nothing. I quickly realized the objective of the exercise and decided to give it a go.
I also then decided to get involved in an appliance business that was in fact not destined to succeed . In January 2007 my first child, Ethan, was born. At the time I was jobless and completely broke, having used most of my resources in the appliance venture.
This is when the SMI teachings started to pay. At that point I could have easily fallen into depression and whatever else goes with that. Instead I decided that I would not be denied and would find the perfect opportunity for myself. I embarked on a quest to get the right position , not only financially rewarding but also challenging and satisfying.
For three months I did all I could to discover this unique environment. I contacted no less than 100 recruiters and turned down some positions, I decided that I would expect the best and nothing less and remained positive throughout.
All my interviewers offered me positions but none that would suit me completely. One day while researching the Internet I stumbled on an administration position which the profile suited me perfectly. I should have responded online as requested but decided to research the advertiser instead. I finally made direct contact by e-mail and shortly after that received a call, I had been invited to attend a preliminary interview at the Recruiter's offices in Cape-Town.
At the same time I had been offered a position in sales and the company was impressed enough to attempt to meet my needs, doubling their offer, but it wasn't just right yet.
The interview went really well and I was set for an interview with the MD and CEO a week later. The job was for an administration manager at a health spa in Stellenbosch. I really wanted this job but needed to present the right profile and took control of the interview process during which I negotiated the highest package and requested a quick answer because the other company gave me an ultimatum for an answer.
The same afternoon I was offered the job. I started in May 2007 and set myself a goal to become General Manager within three years. In October of that year I received a huge increase for good performance. It only kept going well.
On the 15th of January 2009 I was appointed General Manager to the Hydro at Stellenbosch 20 months after my commencement and 16 months ahead of schedule. My life has changed dramatically since that day at your office. I get up at 04:30 in the morning, I am healthy, quite fit and have a pleasant life. I know that I owe it to myself and am confident that I am getting what I deserve and expect more.
I still have a lot to learn and am still working on my past conditioning but am making progress and found myself to become a strong leader with a powerful positive outlook on life. Not much can bring me down these days and it has been a great ride so far. I am far from my objectives but I think I am very close to achieving balance in my life. The next step is to grow every spoke in my wheel.
I thought you would appreciate the story.
Best Regards,
D Constant
